Dear Reader,
Whenever things have happened to me in life, I've made a mental note of how I felt at the time, what I did to remedy the problem, and what the outcome was. I continue to do this because there's probably a good possibility that I'm going to find myself replaying the situation again sometime, or something similar to it.
I realize the same solution might not always work. But it always gives me a sense of peace, to be able to stand back, recalling those mental notes, and saying to myself, ‘Relax, you've been here before Suzanne. This is familiar territory, so what did you do the last time that this happened?’ This soul-searching conversation has saved me from panic in major crises as well as little everyday annoyances of life.
It happened just last week, when I thought I'd never be able to write anything ever again. I couldn't find the place inside of me that I need to go to’ when I write. So instead of having an anxiety attack--well, I did panic a little, I was on deadline and there wasn't anything on the screen in front of me except the words, "Dear Reader,"--I talked myself through it saying, ‘Relax, Suzanne you've been here before’...and it did indeed bring me peace.
Thanks for reading with me. It's so good to read with friends.
