Dear Reader,
Today our guest writer, Franisz Agoes Suryadiningrat Ginting, is one of the 2021 Honorable Mentions from my Write a DearReader Contest. Thank you Franisz for sharing your story with us--all the way from India.
Writing is like giving away piece by piece of yourself to someone else. Sharing crumbs of our soul, pouring out our hearts.
It's almost like being naked, yet without feeling ashamed, just as Eve and Adam in the Garden of Eden for the first time.
Sometimes, however, we ask ourselves when we write, "Have I written honestly, the way I really want to say it, or am I still holding myself back and keeping a distance with everyone, especially my readers?"
Writing is also like a romantic relationship with someone we love or getting to know. When they show up, do we see them from afar, directly greet 'em, or pretend not to realize their presence and wait for them to come to us?
That's why writing is hard, sometimes, isn't it? Because we don't know the exact words to write and say. And yet, writing is also easy at times, since we just keep it flowing and continue to write or type.
Above all, if we have something to say, if there's a burden in our hearts for us to share and let it out, then write. Even when it's just one word.
Screaming at the beach when no one else is around, shouting out loud for ourselves inside a car, smashing stuff in a room, and any other harsh things, pales in comparison to what we could--and when we--write.
