Dear Reader,
If life hands you a lemon, paint your window.
Twenty-five years ago a neighbor boy playing with his new BB gun missed his target and hit our window instead. Thankfully the BBs didn't penetrate our double-pane window, but they did leave two quarter-sized divots, and two long cracks with gray streaks running down the middle of the window. So for the past 25 years, every single time I've looked out that window, instead of enjoying the flowers in my beautiful garden, I've been looking at the reminders of the BB incident.
My husband and I never got the window fixed, because we live in a historical home and replacing the window (in an authentic manner) would have been a huge expense.
So instead, we told ourselves, 'A couple of BBs and gray streaks down the window, Hey, we'd just live with it.'
Do you know how many times in my life I've told myself that I'd 'just live with something?' Way too many. And over the years, when I finally did decide I wasn't going to 'just live with something anymore,' after I made a change I'd look back and think 'Why the heck did it take me so long to fix this? Look at how much enjoyment I'm having now.'
And that's exactly what happened with our window. It was a wildly creative idea my husband came up with to "fix" the window, and Connie, a local Sarasota artist, came to our rescue. Now, the window is one of my favorite things in our home.

Thanks for reading with me. It's so good to read with friends.
