Dear Reader,
Today my family and friends are gathering at my home for Thanksgiving dinner. It's always the year's big ta-do! dinner. Bigger than Christmas dinner. The menu never changes, it's tradition: turkey, crock pot dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potato casserole, Skunk beans, shrimp salad, deviled eggs, green beans jazzed with tomato, fresh cranberries, coleslaw and pies, and more pies, all homemade including the crusts.
Paul, James and Hadley, three of my grandchildren who live close by, will help me make the pies the day before Thanksgiving. Actually 12-year-old Paul, has been baking with me since he was three years old, so he can make the pies himself now, including the crusts.
Family and friends gathered together, a tradition of favorite foods, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Thanks for reading with me. It's so good to read with friends.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Suzanne Beecher
