Dear Reader,
Who's your favorite author? Readers respond...
(Kathryn H. is the winner of my extra copy of The Tie That Binds by Kent Haruf, my favorite author.)
"My favorite genre is cozy mysteries and my favorite author out of that genre is Blaize Clement." -- Noreen T.
"My favorite author is David Rosenfeldt. Love his series!" -- Sandy H.
"Hard to pick one favorite author. I read a lot of non-fiction and always eagerly await new books by Robert Sapolsky, Levison Wood, Steven Pinker, and Richard Dawkins. For years most of my fiction reading came from books my husband read as he is a large fiction reader, so I am thankful for the book club as many of the titles would be books he wouldn't be reading." -- Dawn R.
"My favorite author right now is Karin Slaughter. I'm working my way through all of her mysteries." -- Joanne H.
"These are the authors whose books I automatically buy and read without even knowing anything about the books: Jodi Picoult, John Grisham, Dean Koontz, and Stephen King." -- Robin M.
"Lee Child is probably my favorite author. I love the Jack Reacher books! A close second would be Harlan Coban." -- Debbie P.
"I have so many favorite authors, but the one I choose is Louise Penny. I so enjoy her detective and the Canadian setting." -- Mary Ann L.
"My favorite author is Elizabeth Chadwick and my favorite book by her is Lords of the White Castle." -- Terry M.
"Erik Larson is one of my favorite authors. It is hard to pick just one." -- Sharon S.
"I suppose it's old-fashioned of me, but my favourite author is Arthur Conan Doyle. Besides creating the Great Detective, Sherlock Holmes (who's always been something of an idol of mine), he also wrote science fiction, poetry, and some amazing historical fiction--his Brigadier Gerard stories, for instance, are equal parts exciting and hilarious. And his Round the Red Lamp has some amazing stories of a medical life, from mistaken identity to nervous collapses to a terrible revenge scheme. One of the most 'shocking' stories (The Los Amigos Fiasco) involves an experimental execution; under the belief that 'more is always better,' the town of Los Amigos decides to execute a famous desperado with every last volt of their power plant. In true comic book fashion, rather than killing him, it makes the desperado immortal, with superhuman vitality (can't you just picture Batman fighting a villain with that backstory?). It's really a pity that so much of what Conan Doyle wrote tends to be forgotten or ignored." -- Jeremy P.

THE BED MATE (Fiction) by Kendall Ryan
When I began the Roommates series last year, I never would have imagined how much people gobbled up these stories. There's something about living in close proximity to someone you're attracted to, well it's creates a powerful pull. In this latest story, two best friends--Maggie and Sam are forced to explore the extent of their feelings as they share a hotel room on a snowing mountain resort.
