Dear Reader,
Someone always wins at the book club. Congratulations to these lucky book club winners: If you've never entered a giveaway drawing, or the Chocolate Chip Cookie giveaway, you should.
February Chocolate Chip Cookie winners are Catherine C., Mansfield Public Library; Patricia M., Clearing Branch/Chicago Public Library, and Natalie K.
The ten book winners are Tracy G., Lana W., Gail G., Lynda S., Deidre W., Jay D., Maureen M., Sandra G., Iris H., and Andrea D.
And Charlotte S., a reader at the book club and the Campus Librarian at Pensacola State College, was a winner and now she's stress-free...
"Suzanne, thank you so very much for the fidget cube. It's a really clever device. I'm adding it to the kit that the library uses during the Stress Less Week activities we hold each semester. The students are sure to enjoy it!
Thank you even more for the great books you lead me to for both myself and for the library and especially for the sunshine you bring to all your readers. You are a blessing!" -- Charlotte
We may be a virtual book club, but frequently readers tell me that it feels like we're sitting at the kitchen table together, drinking a cup of coffee, talking about books and chatting about everyday life. Or as Frances says...
"Dear Suzanne, just wanted to commend you for the interesting stories you tell us regarding your day-to-day. You could be sitting opposite me at my kitchen table with a cup of tea and both of us having what once was called 'a jolly chin-wag'".
-- Cheers from Canada, Frances
(Suzanne replies:) Frances, a cup of tea and a jolly chin-wag, I bet we would be exchanging recipes, too. Here's one of my easy favorites...
"Simple" Red-Skinned Potato Salad
1/3 cup gourmet mustard (I use Grey Poupon Dijon, or use your favorite mustard.)
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 pounds small red-skinned potatoes, cooked and quartered
1 large tomato, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped green onion
4 slices bacon, cooked well and crumbled
Combine the mustard, sour cream and mayonnaise in a large bowl, add the potatoes, tomato, bacon and green onion. Chill overnight in the refrigerator.
Thanks for reading with me. It's so good to read with friends.
