Dear Reader,
I love it, and I hate it.
But I admit it's changed my life in a positive, meaningful way.
I hate it when "beep" an advertisement (that I never requested) shows up in Messages on my iPhone. I love it when delivery folks let me know they've left a package by my door (especially since I have three doors). But the real reason texting has become a positive part of my life is because it makes it so easy for me to send a few lines of encouragement to my grown children every week.
You're never too old to hear praise, or an "I love you" from your mom. But when my only option was to call, it felt a little awkward to ring my 38-year-old son at 2 p.m. and say, "Just called to tell you I love you." But sending a text, no problem. "Go get 'em! Have a great day. I love you, Mom"
My 44-year-old daughter obviously loves to get my texts, too, because the other day when I sent this text: "You are a talented woman. Get out there and show 'em your stuff today. Love you, Mom"
She immediately replied, "It's always a great day when I hear from my mama."
Two grown kids with families of their own, who are busy at their jobs, but without fail, I always hear back right away, "Thxs Mom. I love you, too."
Ah, it never gets old hearing "I love you" from your kids. I sure do love this texting.
Thanks for reading with me. It's so good to read with friends.
