Dear Reader,
Julius, a reader at the book club loved the idea of making the Raspberry Chocolate Cake recipe I featured in last Friday's column, but he says there's a problem...
"Suzanne, I love Raspberry Jam, etc. [in the list of ingredients for the cake], the only problem is, at this time, I am home alone. What do I do with all the leftover ingredients? I do the cooking, as my wife is unable. I only make what can be done in 20 minutes with as few ingredients as possible. My question, how many of your readers are in the same boat?"--Julius
If you're cooking for one or two and have some tips for Julius, send them this way and I'll pass them on.
In the meantime, Julius, I recommend sharing your baked goods with neighbors, friends, and even dropping off slices of cake, cookies, or cupcakes to your doctor and staff. Sharing what I've made is the best part of baking for me. Almost all of the ingredients in the Raspberry Chocolate Cake recipe are baking staples, except for the raspberry liqueur, but you only need the smallest bottle which has three tablespoons, and you'll use all three for the cake and frosting.
If you missed the cake recipe, you'll find it at: http://dearreader.typepad.com/dear/2016/02/dear-reader-column-02-12-16.html
* Congratulations to the winners of Room for Hope by Guest Author Kim Vogel Sawyer: Pat H., Gretchen B., Karen R., Barbara H. and Heidi Z.
Thanks for reading with me. It's so good to read with friends.
