Dear Reader,
Keep your eyes and heart open for something to write about this summer. My annual Write a Dear Reader Contest will launch in September this year. If you see something that inspires you, write down some notes. When something stirs your heart, write down how you're feeling that very minute, and when it's time to write something for the contest, the words you jotted down will take you back to that feeling. Every year I give book club readers the opportunity to write a Dear Reader column, like the one I write every day. If your column is one of the top three entries, it will be featured in the daily read (where my column normally runs) and there are cash prizes, too!
If you've entered the writing contest before and your entry wasn't selected, Diane, a reader at the book club has a suggestion for you...
"Hi Suzanne! I thought I'd share some good news with you! Last year, your annual Write-a-Dear-Reader contest prompted me to write an essay about age and ageism. I didn't win, but I rewrote the essay, and it's in this month's Still Crazy Literary Magazine. So thanks for the inspiration! I love your daily columns and your emotional honesty. Have a great day!"--Diane :)
This year's Write a Dear Reader Contest, including how-tos, prize info, last year's winning entries, and deadlines will be published Monday, September 14th. Be brave, have fun and start writing.
