AUTHORBUZZ: Discover new books, "meet" the authors and enter to win: Goto: http://authorbuzz.com/dearreader
Dear Reader,
When I yanked two weeds out of the ground yesterday, I wasn't intending to commit. But I guess it only took two, because three hours later my clothes were soaked with sweat, every muscle in my body was begging me to listen, and my yard was filled with piles of ready-to-compost weeds. My oh my, what a good feeling, the spoils of manual labor.
But this morning when I woke up and tried to get out of bed, I was instantly reminded that manual labor is one of those "gifts" that keeps on giving. Yesterday's aches and pains were mere irritations compared to what I was feeling this morning. My situation reminded me of some advice that I recalled reading in a fitness book. The author said to look for opportunities to disguise exercise, and that would help keep staying fit fun. But, she cautioned, "Gardening and housework don't qualify as exercise, because you really don't get a good workout."
Clearly she's wrong, and as soon as I can figure out how to move my legs and crawl out of bed, I'm going to send her an email.
Thanks for reading with me. It's so good to read with friends.

AUTHORBUZZ: YELLOW CROCUS (Fiction) by Laila Ibrahim
I'm an author that loves calling/Skyping into book clubs.
Moments after Lisbeth is born, she's taken from her mother and handed over to an enslaved wet nurse, Mattie. Though Lisbeth leads a life of privilege, she finds nothing but loneliness in the company of her overwhelmed mother and her distant father. As she grows, Mattie becomes more like family to Lisbeth than her own kin and the girl's visits to the slaves' quarters--and their lively and loving community--bring them closer together than ever. But can two women in such disparate circumstances form a bond like theirs without consequence?
