Dear Reader,
It's the writing question most frequently asked by book club readers. Some folks put a different spin on the question, but in my way of looking at it, it all boils down to "How can I get out of the way and let myself write?"
Everyone has to discover their own path. Mine is music, and I realized the other day that I'd been missing the music. How could I forget the most important tool that inspires and allows me to stop feeling self-conscious about every word I write, and just let go?
So I cranked up my current favorite tune, "Home" by Phillip Phillips, listened to it three times while dancing around the living room and finally--I felt ready to write. I don't know for sure if it was the music, or that I was just so exhausted from dancing, but finally I let go and could freely write. Don't be shy, grab your notebook, put on your dancing shoes, turn up the music, get out of the way and soon you'll be writing.
