Dear Reader,
I'm on my annual vacation this week and today best-selling author Colleen Coble is filling in for me. Colleen loves to write romantic mysteries about overcomers--strong heroines who emerge from a painful situation stronger for the trial. Author of more than fifty books, Colleen is also CEO of American Christian Fiction Writers.
Colleen's newest book is Rosemary Cottage, and she has 5 copies to giveaway to readers. Email, say hello, (Colleen answers all of her mail) and you'll be entered in the drawing. Email: colleen@colleencoble.com
Welcome to the book club Colleen...
My name is Colleen Coble, and I'm a decorating addict. I never knew addiction could grab so quickly. It started innocently enough when we bought a new house. We're going to all one floor since my husband and I are getting tired of running up and down stairs. We've spent the last 16 years restoring an old Victorian, and I discovered I'm just...tired of old. I am planning on something really fresh and up-to-date in our new house. So of course doing something so different requires research. Lots and lots of research. Like hours and hours on Houzz and even more hours watching HGTV.
That's when the addiction began. And it's so bad now I can't really get started writing for the day until I've checked out the latest bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens on Houzz. I have to evaluate the color scheme I've come up with over and over again ad nauseam. This is an area where I don't feel I have a natural knack so that's how I justify all the money I've spent on decorating books. And we aren't planning on moving from this house, so it has to be right.
So I'm even dithering on which hardwood to put down. On one hand, I love the look of cumaru, but I've heard exotic hardwoods can darken, and I want a light to mid-tone wood. I like hickory when I see a small piece, but when I've seen pictures of it on the floor, it looks too rustic for me. And I have changed my mind on what color I want to paint the walls about fifty times. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration, but at least ten times.
I am sold on the hotel bed look so I've spent way too much time looking at high thread count sheets and duvet covers. And pillows. Do you have any idea how many really cool throw pillows are out there? It's enough to give me heart palpitations. But I have to say I'm actually enjoying this addiction. I don't know if it will end when we move into the new house, or if my poor husband will be doing home projects for the next two years.
Thanks for stopping by! I love to talk about decorating, so if you have a surefire color scheme, send it my way at colleen@colleencoble.com
Happy reading! And, er, decorating.

AUTHORBUZZ: MADE TO LAST (Fiction) by Melissa Tagg
I remember the night I lounged around, watching the classic Christmas in Connecticut while mulling a new story idea. By the time credits rolled, the characters for Made to Last were born: a DIY celebrity stuck in a pretend marriage, a reporter out to revive his career, both searching for something lasting. I hope you enjoy reading their story as much as I enjoyed writing it.
