AUTHORBUZZ: Discover new books, "meet" the authors and enter to win: Goto: http://authorbuzz.com/dearreader
Dear Reader,
People don't win any awards for lounging, but maybe they should. Billee, my Calico cat knew how to do it. I don't. Guilt-free, contentedly curled up, she'd sit in the sun for hours in the middle of my flower garden.
Me--for some reason I feel the need to always be doing something so I can earn my keep. Consequently it takes more effort for me to try to relax, than if I did three loads of laundry--including the ironing, washed the garbage cans, and cleaned out the gutters.
If there's the slightest hint of "doing nothing" in my upcoming plans, it's a prerequisite that I announce to the world that I won't be checked out for long: "I'm just taking a break for a few minutes," I yell to my husband--as if he cares.
It's ridiculous. My husband doesn't care one iota if I'm busy or not. In fact, he says he likes it better when I give in, put on my Pj's and check out and relax, because then he doesn't feel the need to try to keep up with me.
* Congratulations to our most recent cookie winners: Karen Troutman, Marlys Frisby, Kathleen Elfrink and Teresa Newton. And Melody Baldwin is the winner of the bubble cannon.
Thanks for reading with me. It's so good to read with friends.

AUTHORBUZZ: IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING (Fiction) by Austin Ratner
A dazzling story of fathers, sons, and brothers--bound by love, divided by history. The Auberons are a lovably neurotic, infernally intelligent family who love and hate each other--and themselves--in equal measure. Part family saga, part coming-of-age story, a kinetic, fresh, bawdy yet earnest shot to the heart of a novel about coping with death, and figuring out how and why to live.
