Dear Reader,
I'm not a meeting person. Scarred from sitting through too many Power Point presentations, and bored out of my mind, if I could get away with it, after 20 minutes I'd love to start tossing paper airplanes around the room to liven things up. Why just the word "meeting" sounds boring, and the tips that meeting experts offer for "How to have a good meeting," Yawn! Who in their right mind would sign up for this kind of fun: have a leader, listen more than you talk, let people finish their thought, don't interrupt, have a goal, end the meeting on time, and if you bring snacks make sure they're healthy.
But there is one meeting I actually look forward to--and not because it's only held every two years--it's because it doesn't feel like I'm in a meeting. I do agree with the experts that you need a good leader and we have an impressive one, who keeps us on track. Even though it's a two-hour meeting, never once do I look at my watch, wondering when this torture is going to end--because we're having so much fun not following the rules. We spend at least 35 minutes of the two hours laughing, we constantly interrupt and talk all over each other (I might be the worst offender), but it's only because we're so excited about our ideas. We do eat healthy snacks, anything dipped in chocolate--we're on board, including devouring a bag of my chocolate chip cookies. Basically we have a real good time, yet we accomplish a lot because we're great at brainstorming. Which is why I brought thinking caps to our most recent meeting.
Great ideas call for great hats. Four woman adorned in formal hats, decorated with lace and pearls, meeting experts should take note, because it was one of our most productive meetings.

Thanks for reading with me. It's so good to read with friends.
