Dear Reader,
The week of May 4th I wrote a column about my "aha" moment with a book and got over 300 responses from all of you--it was amazing!!!
One of the responses was so wonderful I asked the letter writer if I could post it and she said yes, so here it is--I know readers everywhere will love reading this with me.
From a DearReader:
"I had to stop and think about your question--when was my last 'aha' moment with a book? I definitely have that 'aha' moment....or is it an 'ahhhhh' moment?....whenever there is a new release by one of my favorite authors. I can remember my earliest 'aha'--I cannot remember my age--but it was when I read 'Rebecca' by Dauphne de Maurier.
I had never experienced a story before that had such an impact, that I connected so powerfully with a character. I was already hooked on reading, but I believe it was that selection that really set the hook, so to speak!
Now I enjoy a lot of new 'aha' moments when Suzanne introduces me to a new author--sometimes the click is so strong that I have to go back to the beginning for that author and read everything ever written! I am always mystified when I meet someone who says they just aren't that into reading--how can that be? If I get caught up and 'too busy' for too long, I am like someone deprived of their morning coffee--I start to feel 'not myself' and give it some thought as to what is causing the malady, until I realize my reading time has been shortchanged. I settle into my favorite chair and spend some quality time with my imagination on the path that the author has laid out for my travel--I am happy once again!"
Thank you--to all authors--so much for sharing your talents and taking us on so many journeys."--Nancy
