Dear Reader,
I'll be bench-sitting this afternoon at 2:30.
Admittedly bench-sitting is a made-up term, but it's the perfect description of what my friend Linda and I will be doing later today. We'll be sitting on a bench, drinking coffee, shooting the breeze and watching the people walk by.
We always do our bench-sitting downtown, because Linda used to own a Paperire store on Main Street and that's how we met. The downtown is within easy walking distance from my house, and at least twice a week I used to stop by Linda's store and say hello. Sometimes I'd buy something, most of the time I'd bring her a bag of my chocolate chip cookies, and all of the time we'd catch up on what had been going on in our lives.
Linda doesn't own a shop on Main Street anymore, but the other merchants still remember her, people are still walking by, the bench in front of her old store is still there and very inviting, and so--we'll be doing a little bench-sitting this afternoon.
Thanks for reading with me. It's so good to read with friends.
