You've done it again, Suzanne, "bringing up my mother"(:see9/7/06:). But you always bring up the best things about her so keep it up. In the early '50s when I was 7+ my Uncle sold me Cott soda from his Wholesale Produce Co. so I could sell them to the men in the quarry down the road and learn the principles of business. Always planning ahead, Mother found a HotDog Cart with the potential for adding lunch items to my soda. I was already saving for college and this was my first (very successful) business venture. But your aprons bring back the more vivid memory of the wonderful aprons Mother made for me to give my school teachers at Christmas. Her cedar chest of treasures held a Valentine motif apron, white with tiny red hearts that brought tears to my eyes in 2004. I wear it every Valentine's Day. This Dear Reader Column combines Mother's industry and encouragement to earn, learn and give. What better time than Valentine's Day to remind me of her vigor and values. Thanks for your timely reminder.
