Dear Reader,
When I jumped out of bed last Saturday morning I was so excited because I had big plans. I was going to weed my flower gardens, plant some annuals for the winter, (remember I live in Florida) fertilize and mulch. I love working in my flower gardens. And you know, I would have accomplished everything I'd intended to do, if I'd only bought the flowers, fertilizer and mulch ahead of time.
I can only fit 15 bags of mulch in my car, so I had to make several trips to the store, and that was the problem--I got a little sidetracked along the way. All of that driving gave me too much time to think about other things--like cookie decorating. I got a new cookbook the other day, and you should see the cookies. They're adorable. I'm not very artistic, but I want to see if I can decorate my cookies so they end up looking like the fancy ones in the book. No problem, I'll make an extra stop and get the supplies. I can decorate my cookies after I finish working in the garden.
But then I started thinking about my quilt. 'Hey, I could finish that project today, too. I only need one more yard of material.' So, I'll swing by the fabric store, too.
Hmmm...I'm hungry for spaghetti sauce. The basil and oregano in my garden were looking pretty good this morning. If I stopped by the Farmer's Market and bought some tomatoes, I could make the sauce today and it could simmer while I was mulching, decorating cookies and sewing my quilt.
Oh, and I can't forget I promised myself two hours of just-writing-for-me time this Saturday. I don't care if I end up with anything I can use in my column; I just enjoy hitting the keys for the fun of it.
Wow, it's 1:30 already. The day's half gone and I haven't accomplished anything, except running errands for the things I planned to do--and didn't.
Thanks for reading with me. It's so good to read with friends.
