Dear Reader,

November 4th was a big day in our household. Yes, my husband and I were excited about our new president, but we were even more excited about the arrival of another grandchild. James Price Beecher, 7lbs. 11 ounces, was born at 4:04 a.m. on Election Day.

It's the second child for our son and daughter-in-law who live close by. Almost two years ago when my husband and I got--the call--"we're on our way to the hospital" our job was to provide moral support and encouragement from the hospital waiting room. But this time around it was quite a different experience. This time when our phone rang, our job was to meet the expectant parents outside of the Emergency Room, pick up our grandson Paul, a bag of his clothes and the all-important binky--because Paul would be staying with us for at least two days.

I love my grandson Paul dearly--but it's been a long two days...and at this writing, day two is just beginning. Paul loves to play the keyboard at two in the morning, I like to sleep. Paul's tummy growls at four in the morning--he wants scrambled eggs--I want to sleep. Paul loves to look at the pictures of book club cookie winners on my computer. Yesterday he even managed to print cookie pictures on my printer, which was a pleasant surprise, since my printer hadn't been working for three days. I don't have any new baby pictures to share with you right now. Paul has printed reams of cookie pictures but he hasn't gotten around to printing any new baby pictures yet.
